Having worked with the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership for more than five years to support the charity in their mission to bring Scotland’s empty homes back into use, Auction House Scotland are delighted to be Gold Sponsor for the organisation’s 11th Scottish Empty Homes Awards.
The awards celebrate the success of those involved in the renovation of derelict properties across Scotland, bringing them back into use once again, and will take place at the Scottish Empty Homes Conference on the 22nd of March 2022 at the COSLA Conference Centre in Edinburgh. As well as in-person attendance, the awards will also be available to watch online.
The Scottish Empty Homes Partnership was formed in 2010 after the review of the private rented sector identified that empty homes can play a key role in meeting the country’s housing challenges. With an estimated 43,000 long-term empty private-sector homes in Scotland, the Partnership exist to combat the ‘housing emergency’ and return as many empty homes back into use as possible. Since the organisation’s commencement, this figure stands at in excess of 6,600 properties.
National Project Manager for the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership, Shaheena Din commented on the sponsorship:
“We are so pleased to have Auction House Scotland on board as Gold Sponsor of the 11th Scottish Empty Homes Conference. With over 43,000 long-term empty private homes in Scotland, auction services can play a very important role in getting some of the most problematic empty homes back into use.”
“We are very much looking forward to this year’s conference and to hearing more about Auction House Scotland’s work with empty homes, and we thank them for their continued support to our network.”
Finalists for the variety of categories at the upcoming awards have already been announced. The categories include ‘Best and Before After’ for the most impressive restoration of a home; ‘Outstanding Individual’ to recognise a practitioner who has provided a particular solution for empty homes work, or shown tenacity, dedication, and hard work to develop an empty homes service; and ‘Outstanding Team’ for a group who have shown exceptional teamwork in tackling the challenge of empty homes. This year’s awards also see the addition of a new category, ‘Best Old Wreck’ - a tongue in cheek name for an award for the best restoration of a home that has been empty for several decades.
Sales Valuer and Business Development for Auction House Scotland, John Loudon, will be present at the event to assist in the presentation of the awards to the worthy winners:
“Auction House Scotland is proud to have supported the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership for more than five years. Over this time, we have helped more than 40 homeowners return their long-term empty properties back into use using the unique speed and security of an auction sale and look forward to helping many more in the future.
We are delighted to sponsor the 2022 SEHP Conference and Awards and are privileged to be presenting the winners with their well-deserved awards on the day.”
