Having worked with the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership (SEHP) for more than six years to support the charity in their mission to bring Scotland’s empty homes back into use, Auction House Scotland are delighted to be silver Sponsor for the organisation’s 12th Scottish Empty Homes Conference.
The conference will take place on Wednesday 1st March 2023 at The Engine Shed in Stirling and also includes an awards ceremony to recognise the hard work and achievements of those involved in transforming empty homes over the past year.
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Repair, Reuse, Revitalise’, focusing on how the repair and reuse of empty homes is helping to revitalise communities and local economies, as well as offering a cost-effective approach to delivering environmental sustainability goals.
The SEHP was formed in 2010 after the review of the private rented sector identified that empty homes can play a key role in meeting the country’s housing challenges. With an estimated 43,000 long-term empty private-sector homes in Scotland, the Partnership exist to combat the ‘housing emergency’ and return as many empty homes back into use as possible.
During 2021-2022, the SEHP brought 1,152 properties in Scotland back into use, bringing the total number of properties brought back into use since the organisation’s commencement to 7,759.
Finalists for the event’s awards have now been announced. The award categories include:
- The best use of empty homes work to create social/affordable housing
- Best retrofit of an empty home: for an excellent environmentally friendly improvement to an empty home
